What is DND (Do Not Disturb)?

DND full form is “Do Not Disturb Service” started by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India). You can activate this service if you don’t want to receive unwanted calls and unwanted SMS from Commercial & Telemarketers.

After Do Not Call Registry Service Activation. In Case you receive any spammy call or SMS from telemarketers numbers. Then you can complain to your network provider like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, JIO, BSNL, MTNL & Dolphin or any network provider in India. They will take necessary action on the caller or SMS sender.

If you want to register your mobile number to National Do Not Disturb Call List. If your network service provider is Vodafone, JIO, Airtel, Idea, MTNL, Dolphin, BSNL etc. Then you can follow this process to Activate DND on any network provider in India. This DND Activation Registry Process will work for all network service provider in India.

Activate DND via SMS

Activate DND on your mobile number by sending SMS

SMS Format

Write START 0 and Send it to 1909.

Above 0 Mean is fully blocked. If you want partially blocked. I will tell you all the process next in this article.

You will not charge for SMS. The service is free.

Activate DND via Calling Process

You need to Dial 1909 and follow the IVR guidance.

Complete the process over them all and chose to Activate DND Service on your mobile number.

If you have completed above mentioned DND Registry Activation Process then congrats. You have successfully have Blocked Unwanted & Spammy Calls & SMS from telemarketers. Now you will not receive Promotional Calls & SMS on your mobile number.

What is Partially Block?

If you want to receive SMS from Banking, Real Estate and want to block Health, Education SMS then you can partially block or you can type 0 for block all categories.

Below This the Categories

  1. Banking/Insurance/Financial products/credit cards
  2. Real Estate
  3. Education
  4. Health
  5. Consumer goods and automobiles
  6. Communication / Broadcasting / Entertainment / IT
  7. Tourism and Leisure

Partially Block SMS Format

Write START X (or X, X) and Send it to 1909.

Note: Here X Represent to preference number of categories.

After Activating DND Service. The DND service will fully activated within 7 days.

Bank, Ticket & Online booking confirmations will be regular as before on your mobile number. DND never block solicited communication.
